EMIM 2019 Registration Grant

Deadline for application: 21 January 2019

The ESMI is offering registration grants for the EMIM 2019 in Glasgow. These grants are preferably given to younger scientists from developing countries and presented in terms of one FREE REGISTRATION to the EMIM.


Who shall apply? You are at an early stage of your research carreer and/or from a developing countries. You are eager to join the EMIM in order to learn and put your findings up for discussion but you have difficulties to cover your expenses as it is unlikely that your institute is supporting your participation? Be encouraged to apply!

Please note: The grant is NOT meant as award for excellent science and shall accordingly not be added to your CV in that way!

  • brief notice on your current research activities incl. title of your abstract (4-5 sentences)
  • place of work

Late-breaking abstract submission Grant

When submitting a late-breaking abstract (31 January - 5 February 2019) you are eligible for a reduction GRANT: your registration fee will be reduced by 100 equivalent to the early registration fee. This applies only when proceeding with your registration after the early bird deadline (29 January 2019) though.

EMIM 2019 Young Investigator Award

The EMIM Young Investigator Award 2019 will be assigned to a young scientist for her/his extraordinary and innovative research presented in the scope of the EMIM 2019. Application for the YIA 2019 must be done during the first call for EMIM 2019 abstract submission (Deadline 4 December 2018).

In accordance with the review outcome the three best YIA applicants are invited to present their work only during the final plenary session scheduled for 20 March 2019.

Eligibility criteria

  • younger than 34 at the time of the conference (19 March 2019) and
  • his/her doctoral degree should be less than five years ago or not yet achieved (March 2019)
  • he/she has to submit an abstract for oral presentation and
  • should be the first, main, AND presenting author of the abstract.

Originality of content

Original in terms of technique or application or both.

Soundness of conclusions

Do the results support the conclusion?


Significance of results, potential implication on other work


Quality of methodology and data, clarity of presentation

    EMIM 2019 Poster Awards

    Particular attention has been paid to the best possible way of the presentation of your posters:

    In 2019 three poster sessions are scheduled - with no competitive session in parallel - in order to enhance knowledge exchange between senior and junior researchers, to provide you with the opportunity to put your work up for discussion, and the other attendees with the possibility to discuss your findings. Guided thematic poster walks are scheduled. Each poster walk is chaired by two chairpersons and will result in one ESMI Poster Awards 2019.

    The poster awards will be presented during the awarding and closing ceremony scheduled for Friday 22 March 2019.
