EMIM 2018 Young Investigator Award

The EMIM Young Investigator Award 2018 will be assigned to a young scientist for her/his extraordinary and innovative research presented in the scope of the EMIM 2017. Application for the YIA 2017 must have been done during the first call for EMIM 2018 abstract submission (Deadline 5 December 2017).

In accordance with the review outcome the three best YIA applicants are invited to present their work only during the final plenary session scheduled for 23 March 2018.

Eligibility criteria

  • younger than 34 at the time of the conference (20 March 2018) and
  • his/her doctoral degree should be less than five years ago or not yet achieved (March 2018)
  • he/she has to submit an abstract for oral presentation and
  • should be the first, main, AND presenting author of the abstract.

Selection and evaluation procedure

The applicants abstract/research was evaluated by independent reviewers during a double blind reviewing process in regards t:

Originality of content

Original in terms of technique or application or both.

Soundness of conclusions

Do the results support the conclusion?

Importance

Significance of results, potential implication on other work

Quality

Quality of methodology and data, clarity of presentation

    EMIM 2018 Poster Awards

    Particular attention has been paid to the best possible way of the presentation of your posters:

    Two poster sessions are scheduled - with no competiitive session in parallel - in order to enhance knowledge exchange between senior and junior researchers, to provide you with the option to put your work up for discussion, and provide the other attendees with the possibility to discuss your findings, guided poster walks related to a certain topic are scheduled. Each poster walk is chaired by two chairpersons and will result in one ESMI Poster Awards 2018 per walk.

    The poster awards will be presented during the awarding and closing ceremony scheduled for Friday 23 March 2018. 

    EMIM 2018 Registration Grant

    Deadline for application is 15 January 2018!

    The ESMI is offering free registration grants for the EMIM 2018 in San Sebastián. These grants are preferably given to younger scientists from developing countries. 

    Who shall apply? You are at an early stage of your research carreer and/or from a developing countries. You are eager to join the EMIM in order to learn and put your findings up for discussion but you have difficulties to cover your expenses as it is unlikely that your institute is supporting your participation? Be encouraged to apply!

    Please note: The grant is NOT meant as award for excellent science and shall accordingly not be added to your CV in that way!

    Eligibility criteria:

    • You have sumbitted an abstract
    • You are an early stage researchers and/or from a developing country.
    • Your participation will be most likely not covered by your employer.

    Your application email should content:

    • why it is important for you to get financial support (max. 1/2 page)
    • brief notice on your current research activities incl. title of your abstract (4-5 sentences)
    • place of work
    • your contact details
    • date of birth
    • status (student, PhD student, postDoc etc.)
    • copy of ID card
