Prof. Kevin M. Brindle FMedSci - Professor of Biomedical Magnetic Resonance

Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute, Li Ka Shing Centre, and Department of Biochemistry, University of Cambridge

My main area of expertise is in magnetic resonance imaging and spectroscopy, with a particular focus on using metabolic imaging to detect, stage and monitor treatment response in cancer.  We also use other imaging modalities, including PET, SPECT, ultrasound, optical and NIR imaging, where the emphasis here is on the development of novel targeted imaging agents. The ultimate goal of our work is to translate the imaging techniques that we are developing to the clinic.

As (Vice) President of the ESMI council I would seek to promote all aspects of imaging and, in particular, the translation of novel imaging methodologies to the clinic.  I will continue my involvement in organizing the annual meeting of the society and will encourage the active participation of the younger members in all aspects of ESMIís activities.
