History

The ESMI is a non-profit association officialy founded in July 2005.

The initial aims of creating an interdisciplinary scientific European MI society was

  • to ensure sustainability of the achievements and co-operations within the scope of two major European funded research projects - namely DiMIand EMIL.
  • and to create one strong, interdisciplinary entity that advocates imaging science in Europe.

The coordinators of the FP7 European Research projects Andreas Jacobs (DiMI) and Bertrand Tavitian (EMIL), and the project partners have been the driving forces of the first years of the ESMI.

In 2010 the project periods of the networks ended and the ESMI has succeeded in establishing an independent structure. But we need you as members to further extend our actions, to advocate imaging science, and to further establish a strong, interdisciplinary, and innovative Imaging Community become an ESMI member
